Last week piazza Santa Maria Novella hosted the Handamade Chocolate Festival, an event where greedy people can taste different kinds of chocolate, prepared through original and creative variations.
We could not miss it and we did not. Our intention was to fully satisfy our chocolate craving, but the result was just the opposite… and as we cannot wait untill next year to indulge in chocolate and delight our senses we thought to the places where you can enjoy the best products in Florence.
We are not expert chocolatiers ( we have another job!) and we are not food critics (there are enough on television…) and what we are proposing you it is not a ranking. It’s simply a list of places that we suggest to those people who want to visit Florence. There’s nothing better than a hot chocolate (especally during these winter cold days) at the end of a tour of the city.
1. Hemingway, Piazza Piattellina 9/r
It’s a very well known chocolate shop in Florence and offers an intimate atmosphere with original and vintage furniture. The management has recently changed and, as always happens, many Florentines think that “it was better before”, but we like it even now. The hot chocolate is good and the cakes are really inviting.
2. Coccole Cioccolato, Via de’ Ginori 55/r
The place is warm and very welcoming. The quiet and relaxing atmosphere is perfect for a break with a hot chocolate or tea, leaving out the chaos of the city and it offers a full range products of exquisite workmanship.
3. Vestri, Borgo degli Albizi 11/r
Some people consider it the best chocolate shop in Florence and it is known by all Florentines also for the excellent ice cream. The place is really small, but it preserves the charm of a place of other times. The combinations of chocolate proposals, including hot chocolate, are very creative and prepared with the utmost care.
4. Rivoire, piazza della Signoria 5/r
Elegant and historical café located in the most famous square of the city, Rivoire offers chocolate quality and an unique environment, that has largely preserved its original “belle epoque” appearance. Obviously this is not a cheap bar, but it must be said that the prices are suitable for the view. we have already talked about this place in an old article…
