Would you like to discover the true story of Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper?
You could say: “it’s in Milan, in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Which is the link with Florence?” The question is definitely correct, but the answer is that Leonardo, in order to realize it, took inspiration from some decorations he observed in some refectories of Florence and that we propose you to visit.
The tour is this: start from the refectory of Santa Croce and admire the frescos (piazza Santa Croce, from Monday to Saturday 9.30 AM – 5.30 PM, Sunday 2.00 PM – 5.30 PM); move to the cenacle of Sant’Apollonia, realized by Andrea del Castagno (via Ventisette Aprile 1; from Monday to Sunday 8.15 AM – 1.50 PM; free entrance) and finish with the cenacle of Fuligno, realized by the Perugino (via Faenza 40; open on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday; 9.00 AM – 12 PM, free entrance).
