Refresh yourself in Florence

A visit to Florence in July or August is not for the fainthearted, with high temperatures producing some very hot days. Luckily, in addition to various monuments, the city is also home to a large number of public and private pools. Which means that when the heat gets too much, a refreshing break is not far away.

Most public pools in Florence are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the cost of each visit ranges from 6,00 to 8,00 € per person.

Here’s a list of some of the larger pools in Florence:

Le Pavoniere:
Located in Parco delle Cascine, Le Pavoniere comes with a larger swimming pool that you can dive into, as well as a dedicated wading pool for kids making it ideal for a family day out in Florence.

Each Monday and Thursday night, the pool turns into an entertainment precinct with cocktails and live music on the menu. Entrance is 10,00 € and the pool is open to swimmers from 7.30 to 11.30 p.m. If you get hungry, the restaurant is open 7 days a week.

The Flog:
Flog, the city’s first public swimming pool, is located in Il Poggetto and surrounded by a fragrant pine forest. Swimmin and aquatic classes are open to the public during summer at this normally members-only pool.

Costoli:
Just a short walk from the stadium in Campo di Marte, Costoli is probably the largest swimming complex in Florence.  With three pools, diving board and ramps, it is little wonder that this particular aquatic center is so popular. Be prepared for crowds when visiting on weekends.

Nannini Bellariva:
The Bellariva swimming complex is located alongside the Arno and open to the public daily from 10am to 6pm. Along with being a great place to swim, it is also a popular sunbathing spot. Surrounded by lush green lawns and larger trees, it is a secluded place to escape in the heart of the city.
