The History
Built in the 15th century by the Pitti family, this grand residence was later acquired by Eleonora di Toledo, wife of Cosimo I Medici. She set the standard for royal households. Over the centuries, the palace became the home of the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty and, later, the House of Savoy, making it the true Royal Palace of Florence.
The Galleria Palatina, located on the piano nobile, was conceived as a gallery of power and prestige.
