Can culture and entertainment coexist?
We are tourists guide and we like to think that our tours are not just an opprtunity for a personal cultural enrichment but also an entertaining and emotional experience. Thank goodness the feedbacks we receive are encouraging!
Probably the creators of The Medici Dinasty Show think the same: their show is in fact a multimedia drama about the history of the Medici family that will be on stage starting today April 29 at the San Giovannino dei Padri Scolopi Library (piazza di San Lorenzo, 6), in the heart of the Medici’s district, San Lorenzo.
The play tells the history of the meeting between Gian Gastone, Grand Duke of Tuscany and her sister Anna Maria Luisa, last members of the Medicis as ruling family before the Lorena’s takeover and their speech initiates a flashback of their glorious moments of their dinasty and its contributions to the Florentine and European culture. The core of their dialogue is the Family Pact signed by Anna Maria Luisa and the Lorena family: a treaty ensuring that all the artistic patrimony of the faimly remained in Florence, even though under the Lorena ownership.
It was a fundamental agreement for Florence history, that allowed the city to preserve its treasures and become one of the most important art cities of the world. Maybe we would not be here if the last component of the Medici dinasty had not signed this pact.
