If you are planning to visit Florence in September you are doing it right. September is a great month to visit the city, after the summer tourists crowds and out of the heat of July and August.
Also, there are some very interesting things you could do if you want to add something different to the traditional visits to the Uffizi and the Accademia.

1. Fragranze at Stazione Leopolda
It’s an international fair of artistic perfumery where exhibitors coming from all over the world present to buyers and to perfume lovers their incredible products. It’s really an interesting and colorful olfactory experience, just remember that the fair is open to public just one day, on Saturday (this year it will be September 12th ), from 10 AM to 6 PM. The Stazione Leopolda is the ancient train station of Florence and it’s just a 10 minutes walk away from the Santa Maria Novella train station (the actual central station), you can also take the tram (it’s the first stop from the center).

2. Autumn/Winter Exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi
Palazzo Strozzi exhibitions are a must-see in Florence. The palace is worth a visit itself (you can read more here) and the temporary exhibition organized on the first floor are always surprising, with the autumn/winter ones usually starting in September. Unfortunately the 2015 opening is at the very end of the month, September 26th, but the title, Divine Beauty from Van Gogh to Chagall and Fontana, is really promising.

3. International Antiques Fair at Palazzo Corsini
If you are antiques lovers this fair is for you. It takes place every two years in the the superb eighteenth-century setting of Palazzo Corsini, on Lungarno Corsini, between Ponte alla Carraia and Ponte S. Trinita, and it hosts the most prestigious international antique dealers. The fair in 2015 will start on Saturday 26th.

4. The Rificolona Fair
